NAS

If you are into storage drives, you would see that SSDs tops out at 8TB?, whereas 3.5″ mechanical hard drives goes to 40TB. This in my opinion makes no sense. I will work with an SSD manufacturer to develop larger capacity SSDs for NAS, even if in a 3.5″ form factor. In the meantime, I will offer a NAS of varying capacities. This will allow the consumer to get the capacity they wish. The NAS drive counts will be as follows:

  • 1 drive
  • 2 drives
  • 4 drives, 2 NVME?
  • 6 drives, 2 NVME
  • 8 drives, 2 NVME

The drives can function as a backup drive, media server, archival system, and a number of other features. The NVMEs can be used to cache the information received, and feed it to the slower hard drives when ready. Another option for the NVME is to function as a replacement from online storage like Dropbox. You can acquire 2 8TB NVME in RAID-1, and ditch the monthly fee of online storage. The dives can be 2.5″ SSD, 2.5″ mechanical, or 3.5″ mechanical. There would be a wonderful desire for 3.5″ SSD if that would provide the capacity in comparisons to 40TB.
